Company History

VertaseFLI

Vertase was founded in 2000 by a group of individuals from contracting and consulting within the contaminated land industry and are one of the longest established remediation contractors in the UK. The business was developed, initially within the South West and expanded year on year with both project size and scope of works until its eventual opening of a second office in Sheffield in 2004. The company continued its growth organically up to its eventual purchase by the FLI Group in 2005. With the size of projects expanding VertaseFLI made a decision to retain all the required skills in house to deliver enabling works, earthworks based remediation, landfill remediation and materials management, ex-situ and in-situ treatment. Over the years we have expanded our client base working for developers, housebuilders, manufacturing, industrial and petrochemical and public sectors. VertaseFLI now encompasses groundwater remediation, contaminated land remediation, enabling works, demolition and site clearance, domestic and industrial oil spills and gas and VOC management as either discrete packages or projects or as a complete integrated solution.

Early Days and Strategic Expansion

As our client base grew and the scope of our projects expanded, so did our geographical reach. Year on year, we expanded both project size and scope of work until the eventual opening of our second office in Sheffield in 2004. This marked a significant milestone in VertaseFLI history, allowing us to serve a broader range of clients and take on more complex projects. The company continued its growth organically, establishing itself as a key player in the industry.

Integration into the FLI Group

In 2005, VertaseFLI’s impressive track record attracted the attention of the FLI Group, a leading name in the environmental and industrial services sector. The acquisition by the FLI Group was a pivotal moment in VertaseFLI history, providing us with the resources and support needed to further enhance our capabilities. Under the FLI Group umbrella, VertaseFLI expanded its services to include a wider range of environmental solutions, such as groundwater remediation, earthworks-based remediation, landfill remediation, and materials management. This integration also allowed us to retain all necessary skills in-house, ensuring that we could deliver comprehensive and fully integrated solutions to our clients.

Broadening Our Horizons

As part of the FLI Group, VertaseFLI has continued to grow both organically and through strategic acquisitions. Our presence now extends beyond the UK, with the FLI Group’s offices in Waterford, France, and the UK serving as hubs for our operations across Europe. This expansion has enabled us to take on more complex and large-scale projects, while still maintaining the high standards of quality and environmental stewardship that have always been the hallmark of VertaseFLI.

One of the key developments in recent years has been the acquisition of Precast Concrete Solutions – FLI Precast. This acquisition has strengthened our ability to deliver fully enabled sites, including essential infrastructure such as attenuation tanks, drainage systems, and foundations. By working closely with other subsidiaries within the FLI Group, we can offer our clients a seamless and integrated service that meets all their environmental and construction needs.

Joining the Adler & Allan Group

In June 2026, Vertase became part of the Adler & Allan Group, a leading provider of integrated environmental risk reduction services.

This milestone marked a significant step in Vertase’s continued growth, bringing together its established expertise in contaminated land remediation with Adler & Allan’s broad capabilities across environmental consulting, infrastructure lifecycle management and pollution response.

As part of the Adler & Allan Group, Vertase plays a key role in delivering more seamless, end-to-end environmental solutions – helping clients better manage risk, maintain compliance and achieve improved environmental outcomes.

Detailed about FLI Group

A great set of people with a good attitude all around.  The site was managed very professionally, I never had to intervene once on a H&S matter, which is very unusual!
