VertaseFLI Awarded Environment Agency Project

VertaseFLI are pleased to announce that the Environment Agency have awarded us the contract for the works at Docking Landfill site in Norfolk. This will be first site operated as part of the ACUMEN project.
The goal of the ACUMEN project, which is managed by the EA and supported by the European Union Life+ Programme, is to demonstrate methods for reducing and utilising methane emissions from closed landfill sites, especially at gas flow rates and methane concentrations that would generally be considered too low for conventional landfill gas engines.
This 12 month demonstration project will involve diverting some of the landfill gas at the site, which is currently being flared, and passing it through a Stirling engine to generate electricity. The electricity generated will be used to run the gas extraction system as well as feeding the excess into the national grid.
